Duncan Piper

Director of the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology

As Director of the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, Duncan Piper is responsible for the operations and strategy of what is expected to be the sixth private university in the UK, and the first to be facilitated by the passing of the Higher Education and Research Act.

Prior to this, Duncan founded and led two leadership development organisations which have supported over 7,000 students and staff to help them unlock their own leadership capacity – The Unreasonables (working with some of the UK’s most ambitious schools) and Blue Chip Leaders (working with undergraduates studying in the UK).

He is a Founding Trustee of The Advocacy Academy (one of the UK’s most innovative youth leadership charities, working with disadvantaged teenagers in inner-city London), a graduate of Common Purpose’s Frontrunner leadership programme, and has been trained by the Coaches Training Institute. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a business coach and mentor and formerly a Business Advisor to Young Enterprise and Governor of The Skinners’ Academy in East London.
