Richard Brooks joined Step Up To Serve in July 2017 as Education and Employment Manager, halfway through the campaign. Previously to joining the campaign, Richard was the elected Vice-President Union Development of the National Union of Students.
Richard studied Politics at the University of Hull, based in U.K’s City of Culture 2017. He was involved in many clubs and societies during his time at Hull, leading to him becoming President of Hull University Union and being involved in Hull’s U.K City of Culture implementation.
Richard comes from the South East, and was the first person in his family to go to University. He got involved in social action when becoming active in his local youth club – for which he won a Princess Diana Award, which ignited his joint passions of social action and social mobility. In his spare time he follows Liverpool Football Club, is a Trustee of Dover Smart Project and plays the ukulele, although not all at the same time.
